How to Set Powerful Goals You'll Actually Achieve (And Succeed)
To set powerful, achievable goals, take some time to research the dreams you have and make sure they're doable. You want a goal that challenges you but at the same token it can't be too hard or else all your effort will yield nothing but failure in return. To ensure maximum success, make sure your goals align with what's most valuable for you. The values on which you base them should also meet the following criteria:
Match Your Core Values
We all have our own values and goals in mind when we start on a journey, but it's important to make sure that your goal fits into one of the four main areas - family, financial, physical, or personal. If not you'll likely experience little success!
Goals that fit into one or more of these categories are likely to be easier to achieve than those with no relevance in any area.
Be 100 Percent in Control
While goals that rely on others aren’t wrong, they are harder to achieve. Any goal that you control 100 percent is a goal that you can reach. Do ensure that you’re not letting fear get in your way or blaming fate for your failures, though. Self-limiting beliefs can get in your way on this one. Be realistic about whether you do have control or not and give yourself more credit. For example, if you think you do not have control over your financial future because “that’s just how it is,” you are mistaken and need to eliminate this line of thinking.
Envision the Goal
A picture paints a thousand words, but sometimes it takes more than just visuals. To see your future self is to know that you can work toward achieving what will make them happy and fulfilled in life. When this mindset has been established, setbacks are easier to overcome because they aren't viewed as failures so much as an obstacle on the way triumphantly back into their dream's path for success!
A picture may paint a thousand words, but sometimes we need to take things further if we want true clarity about our goals. For one’s dreams to come alive at night with vivid detail of all successes waiting ahead—and not be diminished by daydreaming or procrastination--you must actually SEE yourself succeeding before anything else happens.
Be Specific
Be very specific about your goals. It will make them easier to achieve, and you'll know when they've been met. When it's not clear what the goal is or how one reaches it, some people need a little help from an expert like me!
Be Measurable
You should never set a goal without being able to measure your success. If you can’t come up with any measurable numbers, then it is not really an achievable or realistic goal. For example, if I want my company to make $200 each week by the end of this month, there are no metrics for measuring that like how much time and effort would be required and what kind of sales we need to reach our target amount? How will I know when we have reached these projections? These questions show me that before setting goals about money specifically (or anything else), you must first determine which things matter most and why they matter at all so as long as those factors are established ahead of time through a plan.
Be Actionable
Create a blueprint for your success. Like when you're driving in an unfamiliar city and need to make it from one point of interest (point A) to another point of interest (point B), what steps do you take? You draw a map with the different routes that can be taken, considering time restrictions and other factors like traffic or tolls. Whether you want to go on vacation this summer or achieve any goal in life, create a plan by writing down not only WHAT but WHEN and HOW as well!
Be Realistic
Be realistic about your goals and set achievable ones. Don't try to achieve something that is unrealistic, or worse impossible. Research everything realistically by doing research on how it can be done with the right time frame for you. For example, don’t start a business today only to find out that there are six-figure earnings from day one of starting up any company as an entrepreneur; this would most likely not happen in real life! Instead, look at what's doable within your timeframe and take steps accordingly so success will follow naturally after all those hard work hours put into it!
Be Timely
Every goal has to have a time limit otherwise you may never achieve it. Start with the end and work your way back in time, creating the list of things to do each day that will eventually lead up until today's date; but remember: set a deadline for yourself! You can adjust as needed so long as you're still sticking on task lists- don't get discouraged if there are some hiccups along the road because deadlines help keep us disciplined.
There are many ways to try and accomplish a goal, but if you have the right motivation and time management skills then your goals will be achievable. If you use these methods when setting out on reaching new heights in your career or personal life it'll become apparent that there is no need for failure because adjustments can be made as long as they're noted at an early stage of development.
